The Crystal Project is a community dementia project, led by the HSE North Cork Occupational Therapy Service. It involves collaboration between the Health Service Executive, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, The Carers Association, families affected by dementia, UCC, local community groups and GPs.

The Crystal Project is based in Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre. We offer support and services to people affected by dementia living in North Cork.

The Crystal Project is funded by the HSE, Genio, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the European Foundations Initiative on Dementia

The aims of The Crystal Project are to:

  • Support people with dementia
  • Support families
  • Promote awareness of dementia and reduce stigma

The base for the project is the Memory Resource Room in Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre. Here, people with dementia and their families can access advice and information in a supportive environment.

There is no charge for any of our services and you do not require a medical card to avail of them. Most services are open to everyone though a limited number are available only to those living in North Cork. If you live outside North Cork, contact us to see what Crystal Project services you can avail of.

The services we offer include:

  • Information and access to a wide range of practical resources in the Memory Resource Room
  • Weekly singing group
  • Monthly memory café
  • Goal focussed therapy
  • Volunteer visiting service
  • Support meetings for families
  • Memory groups
  • Information sessions for families
  • Childrens afternoons
